The brief

Local businesswoman and frustrated mum Rowena Johnson invented the BugBrush. She turned to us to help create the branding and marketing materials prior to her attendance at a trade show aimed to get this innovative new product to market.

The revolutionary infant toothbrush, which has 10 times more plaque removing bristles than standard baby toothbrushes, was developed as a result of Rowena’s daughter refusal to have her teeth brushed using a traditional toothbrush. After scouring the market for an alternative product and identifying that 92% of parents have encountered difficulties in cleaning their child’s teeth, she developed BugBrush.

The campaign

Several years of research, hard graft and product development later, Rowena was ready to start finding distributors. She needed branding, packaging, a website and marketing materials to launch BugBrush at the Kind & Jugend trade show in Germany.

The team developed the brand focusing on the healthcare and hygiene benefits of the products but also keeping it child friendly and emphasizing the fun and ease of use features. The product was positioned as the “must-have toothbrush for small teeth, small hands and independent minds”.

The results

BugBrush generated enquiries from distributors in 28 countries at the Kind & Jugend trade show and the company is close to signing contracts with two major UK retailers. The product is also generating direct online sales via www.bugbrush.co.uk.
