partners continues christmas charity donation tradition

York marketing and communications company, The Partners Group has continued its Christmas tradition of favouring a charity donation over gifts for clients, by donating £600 to local charity York Nightstop.

York Nightstop is an independent charity working with other organisations to arrange free, emergency accommodation for young single people threatened with homelessness. Temporary accommodation is provided in the homes of trained and skilled volunteers.

Since 1988, when The Partners Group was established, it has supported a different charity each year, alternating between local and worldwide charities. The emphasis is always on smaller or lesser-known causes, where the effect of the donation can be seen clearly and the people benefiting can be personally involved.

Managing director of The Partners Group, Hugh Venables, said, "While many companies buy gifts for clients, we prefer to reflect the true spirit of Christmas by helping others less fortunate. Happily, many of our clients agree with us, and have made donations themselves in the past to the charities we have supported."

Last year's charity donation went to Pune Community Centre in India and Kikambala Primary School in Mombassa, where the money was spent on a new shelter for the school's goats and the school fees of the 'best girl' whose family could not afford to send her to high school. The Partners Group receives regular updates on both the best girl's and the goats' progress!
