  fellowship honour for York marketing expert
 

York based marketing consultant, David Leon, has been awarded fellowship of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in recognition of his successes in championing best practice in marketing within the leisure and tourism industry.

Now managing director of marketing & PR consultancy firm Partners Leisure Ltd, part of The Partners Group, David has over 15 years experience in marketing tourist attractions and destinations.

David is one of the leading experts in his field and has chaired the National Attractions Marketing Conference for the past two years. He has recently won a number of high profile awards including; twice winner of the York Tourism Bureau marketing campaign of the year award, and the East Midlands Tourism marketing excellence award.

Andy Sherratt, Chairman of the Mid Yorkshire Branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, commented: "We are delighted that David has been awarded fellowship status in recognition of his hard work and dedication to professional marketing, particularly that which he has gained in Yorkshire! We wish David continued success with his business and career."

The CIM is the leading international professional marketing body with nearly 50,000 members worldwide. First established in 1911, it defines the marketing standards that operate in the UK and is the global champion of best marketing practice. Fellowship of the institute is conferred only on the most senior and experienced marketers who have a proven record of expertise, experience and success.

Speaking about the award David commented, "It is a tremendous honour to be awarded Fellowship status by The Institute. Throughout my career I have focused on using the latest thinking and techniques in marketing and applied them to the leisure and tourism industry.

"The leisure and tourism industry has some shining examples of great marketing, but it is also characterised by a plethora of small and not so small organisation who are not benefiting from the enormous commercial advantage that can be obtained by getting the marketing right."
