The Brief

Launched in 2020 and headquartered in North Yorkshire, Flotilla is a net zero consultancy that combines proprietary technology with science-based knowledge and expertise to equip businesses with the information and support they need to develop, execute, and measure a net zero strategy.

The team helps businesses from the professional services and property sectors to take an honest look at emissions, set achievable goals, and provides tools and support to help them drive change to become genuinely sustainable. 

We won a competitive pitch based on our sector expertise and experience to support Flotilla with PR activity for 12 months, as the team stepped up growth plans to roll out its combined software and environmental consultancy to businesses across the UK.

The Campaign

The PR and social media campaign included generating speaking opportunities for the Flotilla team, alongside media relations and content creation for the firm’s owned channels – case studies, blogs, and white papers. Alongside this, we ran a social media campaign designed to build a targeted presence for the business on LinkedIn. 

Working closely with the in-house marketing team and feeding into the wider business and marketing strategies, we identified media and content opportunities, creating and leading a comprehensive PR plan.

Given that climate change is a widely discussed topic across mainstream media and on social, the PR campaign flexed as required to reflect and comment on breaking news stories.

The Results

The media relations campaign delivered consistent monthly exposure in relevant outlets, increasing the Flotilla profile among key audiences with news about the company’s growth and expansion, new initiatives, business successes and achievements. We generated on average four pieces of coverage every month, keeping the Flotilla brand visible to prospective clients. 

The LinkedIn campaign hugely boosted Flotilla’s online visibility, reach and engagement month on month. Our work resulted in a 1000% increase in followers, saw engagement levels grow by 169%, and helped content reach go from a standing start to a monthly average of over 5,000 impressions. 

This translated into greater awareness of the business among the people who matter - or, in the words of marketing director Francesca Woodward, ‘really put Flotilla on the map.’
