Helping the homeless with charity donation

York-based youth homeless charity SASH has been given a boost this festive season after it was chosen to receive a Christmas donation from PR and communications agency The Partners Group.
The business, which has offices on The Mount, donated £250 to the charity, which will go towards its SASH Active programme of activities for the young homeless people it works with.
Thanks to donations from local companies like The Partners Group, in February SASH is planning a special trip to London for 24 young people, many of whom have never left York.
The community fundraiser at SASH, commented: “The donation from The Partners Group is wonderful news. This will cover the cost of a meal during next year’s trip to London for our young people. They get a huge amount out of the trip, but it has to be paid for entirely by donations, so we are very grateful to Partners for their contribution.”
Over the last 28 years, Partners has supported many local charities including York Against Cancer, the MS Society York and District branch, York Women’s Aid refuge, Woodlands Resource and Respite Care Centre, Lidgett Grove School and food parcels for the homeless in the city.
Partners director, Monica Green, said: “The donation to SASH is part of our tradition of supporting a charity instead of buying Christmas gifts for clients. We are pleased to support such a worthy cause and hope the young people are inspired by their visit to London.”
Founded as York Nightstop in 1994, SASH provides a number of services, including emergency overnight accommodation and supported lodgings, to young people aged 16-25 in York, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire.
The charity also runs a number of fundraising event throughout the year, the next of which will be its annual York Sleepout at Tang Hall Community Centre on Friday 10 March, more details of which can be found at www.sash-uk.org.uk.
The Partners Group employs eight people and works with a wide range of national and local businesses including Nuffield Health in York, York Science Park and employee-volunteering charity York Cares.
