The winner of the 2015 Venturefest Yorkshire Investment Competition will receive free support from Partners’ experienced team to create a communications strategy.

Supporting the north's most promising young businesses

The Partners Group has reinforced its commitment to giving young businesses the best possible start by offering its popular Pathfinder service free of charge to the winner of this year’s Venturefest Yorkshire Investment Competition.

The annual competition gives the north’s most promising young science and technology businesses the opportunity to pitch to a roomful of prospective investors at the event on 12 March, exposure to global investors via the GrowthFunders investment platform and a business support package worth over £50k.

As part of their prize, the competition winner will also receive support from Partners’ experienced team to develop a communications strategy that is tailored to its business objectives.

“We introduced the Pathfinder service to help start-ups and other businesses who don’t have the budgets to employ an agency get the foundations in place for successful marketing and communications activity,” says Partners director Karen Tinkler.

“It is essentially a workshop that gives businesses clarity on exactly what they need marketing communications to achieve; pinpoint the people they need to reach; and find the most effective ways of reaching those people with the right messages.

“From there, we look at what the business may already be doing to promote its products or services, the results that activity is delivering and come up with new ideas to help drive marketing activity forward.”

York-based learning and development company Pro-Development recently experienced the Pathfinder. Director Michelle Mook says: “It gave us time to step out of the day-to-day and has given us a different, structured and more intelligent approach to our communications. Partners really got us thinking differently, and gave us so many great ideas and actions that we could use straight away.

“Partners very quickly got to grips with our business and exactly what we’re about, then expertly guided us, advised us and supported us; helping to shape our thinking, give our communications focus and tailoring ideas specifically to our business and goals.”

This is the fifth year Partners has supported the Venturefest Yorkshire competition, which will be judged at the event on 12 March at York Racecourse. The deadline for Investment Competition entries is 31 January, and businesses can apply online here.
