"The work Partners has undertaken has certainly helped open doors with new customers and create opportunities for us to engage with them, which no amount of door knocking or cold calling would have created.”

Opening doors for Silvery Tweed Cereals

The Brief

Silvery Tweed Cereals is a modern, family-owned business processing, manufacturing and supplying premium-quality cereal and seed ingredients to household names in the baking, breakfast cereal, biscuit, snack and brewing industries throughout the UK and Europe.

With purpose-built facilities operating across four separate sites, and employing more than 90 staff across its operations, the company has firmly established itself as one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of ingredients to the bakery and cereal sectors.

We’ve worked with Silvery Tweed since 2011, supporting the sales and senior teams with strategic PR, marketing and digital support to help the business stay visible among existing and prospective customers.

The Campaign

What started as a request for a new company brochure soon broadened out into a review of what the senior team was aiming to achieve with the company brand, website, and business profile.

This led to a website redevelopment, supported by ongoing media relations and social media campaigns, the creation of sales support materials, and email marketing.

Ten years on, and the ongoing PR campaign highlights the innovation in the team and demonstrates the breadth of knowledge and expertise in the business. A strategic content plan sits at the heart of communications activity: identifying stories, shaping them, and communicating them across earned and owned channels to keep Silvery Tweed front of mind among buyers and NPD teams.

The Results

The PR campaign is delivering regular and consistent exposure for the business among the people who matter: namely buyers and NPD teams within cereal manufacturers and plant bakeries.

We track social and web performance monthly, and we have seen LinkedIn followers increase by more than 100% over 12 months, with proportionate increases in engagement. Crucially, new followers are coming from exactly the kind of industries and organisations the Silvery Tweed team is keen to reach. We have also seen sustained growth in website visitor numbers in line with the content plan.

Feedback from MD Bob Gladstone tells us that our work has helped to open doors which “no amount of door knocking or cold calling would have created.” Read more from Bob below.
“As a family business in a very traditional food ingredients sector, we wanted to shed the image of old and show that we are a serious industrial outfit that can cater for a wide customer base.

“Our website is now clear, concise and engaging for our customer base; our brand has been sharpened; and we have achieved our goal of a regular presence in trade magazines and on social media. It is nice to be in a position where people are asking us for market insight, commentary, and content on a regular basis.

“The work Partners has undertaken has certainly helped open doors with new customers and create opportunities for us to engage with them, which no amount of door knocking or cold calling would have created. Partners are professional throughout and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody looking for an effective PR relationship.”
